Hometown Walkabout (HTW), a program of TIC, invites community members to experience Burke County through its places, stories, and people.
This October, our Community Cohort brings people from all backgrounds together for a shared day of learning, connection, and conversation.
You’ll get to:
• Visit meaningful places in Morganton
• Hear stories from local voices and storytellers
• Explore our shared history, culture, and community today
• Connect with people whose experiences may be different from your own
No special knowledge is needed, just curiosity about the place you call home and the people who share it with you. HTW is welcoming, accessible, and rooted in real-life experiences. We operate on a sliding scale to help make participation accessible.
Children 10 and older are welcome with a parent or guardian. Please note that some stories include mature topics, so use your discretion when deciding if HTW is appropriate for your child.
We provide: transportation between sites, a cultural lunch, snacks, and refreshments!
OUR SLIDING SCALE:
$50 – Standard Registration.
$25 – Community Access Option 1: for those who experience cost as a barrier.
$10 – Community Access Option 2: for those who experience cost as a significant barrier.
$100 – Community Sponsor: Helps cover program costs and support community access; includes your standard registration fee.
